A Day at the Blanton Museum in Austin, Texas

An Ode to Martyrdom

Though sorrow and pain should disturb
Let nothing but the sound of angels be heard

Though wing-ed demons should take flight
All the world's angels crumble under His might

However momentarily brief our stay
Let us go with glory on the Way.

None but the eyes of God should see
All that has befallen me

Languishing, I let out a sigh
"Glory to the one on High."

My name, who desires to know?
All for the one in heaven, my heart, I bestow.
